Do you want to travel to Ubon Ratchathani by bus? If you are in Bangkok and are planning to travel here you need a little bit of info. In, Bangkok make your way to Mor Chit Bus Terminal. That is the station that connects to Ubon Ratchathani and Isaan.
When you get to Mor Chit Terminal building make your way up to the third floor. That is where you will find all the bus lines that service the Northeast region of Thailand, which includes Ubon.
It can be a bit intimidating but just look for the name of your destination and choose the time and class you want. There is usually a sign at the window with the gate number of the bus you are buying a seat on.
Also buses help you get to know the local people and maybe practise some of your Thai language skills. Everybody is close so you might as well make good use of the captive time on your travels.
Ubon Ratchathani Main Bus Terminal
This is where you will arrive in Ubon. There is plenty of local trans available to get you to your final destination here in Ubon. Out front of the terminal will be tuk-tuks and motorcyle taxis. Also there are songtaews or mini-buses stopping to pick up passengers.
You will probably get swarmed by drivers when you walk out but don't let them pressure you, decide for yourself how you want to go. I find it helpful to step back and wait til it settles down then go find my way home. Welcome to Ubon Ratchathani by bus.
At the Ubon Ratchathani Bus Terminal you will find buses to many places throught Isaan and other regions of Thailand. From Ubon you can get bus travel to Yasothon, Roi Et, Amnat, Mukdahan, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Srisaket, Surin, Buriram, and Korat. You will also find service to Chonburi and Rayong and of course Bangkok and Chiang Mai with all points in between.
Nakhorn Chai Air Bus Terminal
In my opinion a true success story in Thailand it Nakhorn chai Air Bus Line. They are constantly upgrading their buses and facilities. There buses are well maintained and the drivers are trained well and drive safely. They do have some budget routes but the majority of their buses are air-conditioned and 32 seats 32 passengers, not standing room only like some. Most buses have airconditioning, meals, videos and large comfortable seats. I highly recommend their service.
Nakhon Chai Air offers 3 routes that run to and from Ubon Ratchathani. The 3 routes are Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Rayong. The buses only stop at bus terminals and only sell tickets for available seats. All buses are airconditioned, VIP and AIR 1 included meals, snack, beverages and blanket but AIR2 does not. The main difference betweet VIP and AIR1 is the bus type and comfort.
NCA schedules are the same on both ends of the line with the exception of the final bus of the day between Ubon and Bangkok. Those exceptions are noted in the schedule below.
